ATİK ALİ PASHA PALACE
Former 19th-century Ottoman palace known as Atik Ali Pasha. Built as a secondary residence near the Sultan’s principal summer palace on the Bosphorus converted to a Four Seasons hotel in 2008. Atik Ali Pasha Palace at the Bosphorus occupies a former 19th century Ottoman palace known as Atik Pasha. It was one of a group of several palaces originally referred to as the Feriye Palaces, built as secondary residences along the Bosphorus’ European coast near the Sultan’s principal summer palace.
Atik Ali Pasha Palace impressive, symmetrical façade faces the Bosphorus. At night, the frontage is lit by flaming torches - a spectacular welcome for those arriving for dinner via the Hotel’s private, waterfront dock. A 190 m (623 ft) wide promenade extends in front of the palace building. It is landscaped with lawns and gardens, bar pavilions, seating areas and a large pool with open views across to the forests and yalis that line the Asian shore.
FOUR SEASONS BOSPHORUS HOTEL
Two modern accommodation wings flank the back of the original palace. Designed as contemporary interpretations of old civic architecture, they include wooden windows and copper roofing with stone and stucco finishes. Together, the buildings line three sides of the landscaped gardens, steps and driveway that descend amongst cascading pools, fountains and mature trees from Çırağan Road to the Hotel’s lower, glass-covered entrance.
The Hotel’s interiors are inspired by their surroundings : shades of aqua, silver and taupe reflect the shimmering hues of the Bosphorus, whilst light marble and cool blue glass impart the freshness of a coastal resort. Throughout the Hotel, prints of the 18th century engravings of artist, architect and voyager, Antoine Ignace Melling, recall the glamour of the Bosphorus of old.
Decorative geometric motifs, hand-painted ceiling details, Turkish carpets and interesting marble inlays showcase the talents of local craftsmen and imbue an air of understated, Ottoman elegance. Achic city retreat on Istanbul’s glorious seafront, this converted Ottoman palace is surrounded by indigo waters and mountaintops. Visit the place where East meets West and the past meets whatever's coming next. Stimulating days and vibrant nights await.
Along the Bosphorus, in one of Istanbul's trendiest and most naturally beautiful neighbourhoods, find a former 19th-century Ottoman palace transformed into a hotel sanctuary of luxury and comfort.
